RESEARCH

Professor Safferling and his team have a variety of research interests. Besides matters of criminal law and criminal procedure, these would be, in particular, European and international criminal law and the history of criminal law. There is also a specific interest in current criminal law developments in the field of cyber and computer crime.

An important part of our work consists of research in international criminal law. We not only follow current developments in this very dynamic field marked by great activity on the part of many states and the international community as well as legal scholarship, but we also endeavour to examine historical backgrounds, the political dimension and the future of international criminal law. Our particular focus is on contemporary legal history.
