The International Nuremberg Principles Academy invites to a conference on the subject of “70 Years Later: The International Military Tribunal for the Far East”. The event will take place in the historic Courtroom 600 in the Nuremberg Palace of Justice from May 17 to May 19, 2018. The conference marks the 70th anniversary of the judgement of the International Military Tribunal for the Far East in November 1948. It examines the proceedings and the judgement of the Tokyo Trial and underlines the lasting importance and relevance of the trial in today’s international criminal law. For this purpose, the Academy brought together more than 30 international experts. In several panels and a roundtable, the experts will address the substantive law and the procedural law of the Tokyo Trial. Moreover, they will reveal similarities and differences between the Tokyo Trial and the Nuremberg Trial. Professor Safferling provides the closing remarks of the Conference on May 19.
